Chlorpheniramine is a first-generation H1 antihistamine that competitively blocks histamine H1 receptors, reducing allergic symptoms such as sneezing, rhinorrhea, and watery eyes. Paracetamol (acetaminophen) acts centrally by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system, producing analgesic and antipyretic effects. Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic decongestant that stimulates α-adrenergic receptors in nasal mucosal blood vessels, causing vasoconstriction and decreasing nasal congestion. The combination therefore provides antihistaminic, analgesic/antipyretic, and nasal decongestant actions.
